Since 2017, Microsoft has been able to maintain a new version of Windows 10 every six months, and the next version of Windows 10 in 2020 will be released in April / May.
Microsoft is currently publicly testing Windows 10 version 2004 (20H1), which will be a complete upgrade of Windows features, with a particularly long installation time, especially on cheap PC devices.
The previous version of Windows 10 was called the 2019 Update November Edition, 2019 Update May Edition, Creators Update and First Anniversary Update.
A new discovery in the preview version of Windows 10 20H1 indicates that the first major Windows 10 update this year (currently codenamed 20H1) is officially named the May 2020 version of Windows 10 Update.
In version 19041 with all cumulative updates installed, Windows Powershell’s “Get-VMHostSupportedVersion” command lists Windows 10 May 2020 Update and Windows Server 2004 as one of the results.
This may be another confirmation that Microsoft named and released the May 2020 version of Windows 10 Update.
After the Windows 10 Creators Update, which focuses on creator features, the new version of Windows 10 gets its name because of its release month, but you can expect to see extensive feature updates in the summer.
There are many new features and improvements in the Windows 10 version 2004 update.
In the 20H1 update, Microsoft also introduced background improvements to improve video playback performance.
The Windows 10 version 2004 update is stable enough for normal use and should be released to consumers in late April or early May.
