Old users who have used Mac computers for many years must know that before the Mac will start with a “huh~” startup sound, accompanied by the Apple logo on the screen, the Mac starts safely, but recently This sound disappeared when the new Mac computer was turned on for several years.

Four years after deleting the sound, the macOS Big Sur system released by Apple yesterday brought back this classic boot sound. Foreign media AppleInsider confirmed after testing that macOS Big Sur beta brought back this boot sound on the 2018 Mac mini and 2016 15-inch MacBook Pro.

Some developers posted on social media that the boot sound can also be used on other models. Users can also choose to turn the sound on and off, because there is now a new “Play sound on startup” option in system preferences.

After the launch of the MacBook Pro with Touch Bar in 2016, the classic Mac boot sound was removed from Apple’s computer product line. Since then, macOS has been silent during startup. But later Apple’s update to macOS Catalina actually hides the sound, and you need to use the Terminal command to enable it.
