Apple has officially released the first beta version of macOS Monterey 12.1 to developers. This update adds a feature previously missing from Monterey: SharePlay (simulcast sharing), and installs the latest beta version. Of users can do more with their friends and family through FaceTime.
SharePlay was previously introduced in iOS 15.1, iPad OS 15.1 and tvOS 15.1, but not in the macOS Monterey update that was launched last week. When the Monterey system was released, Apple stated that SharePlay will be added in subsequent updates.
According to Apple, SharePlay (simultaneous sharing) includes a set of powerful features that allow users to share wonderful experiences during FaceTime calls. Users can listen to music, TV shows, movies and more in real time with their relatives and friends . Simultaneous sharing participants can control playback, pause, or fast forward by sharing playback controls. Users can share the content on the entire screen, or just share an App , and easily collaborate with friends or colleagues through FaceTime calls.
In addition to supporting first-party Apple experiences such as Apple TV, Apple Fitness + and Apple Music, SharePlay is also compatible with third-party application experiences. Developers are already building SharePlay experiences for iOS devices, and now they can also build SharePlay functionality in Mac apps.
