Huawei’s new patent for folding screen smart phone

Huawei released two foldable smartphones Mate X and Mate Xs, when the phone is folded, the flexible screens of these two phones are outside. It is reported that Huawei will launch another foldable phone in the second half of 2020, this time Huawei will use a different design.

A new design patent from Huawei shows that it may be similar to the Samsung Fold design. Huawei applied for a design patent in China. The patent was approved on April 28, 2020. A total of 16 color product images show the device from multiple angles.

Huawei ’s patented foldable phone can be expanded to the size of a tablet with a flexible display on the inside, similar to the Galaxy Fold. Bangs and hole-punch cameras are not visible, and a full-screen design is adopted, with narrow screen edges.

The phone also has an extra screen outside, but there is still a clear difference from Fold because Huawei chose to place the four-camera system directly next to the front display. Therefore, the width of the second screen is significantly reduced.

The current Huawei Mate Xs has four cameras. Although the number of cameras in the patented folding phone has not changed, this time Huawei seems to be planning to equip the folding phone with a zoom lens because the camera lens on the bottom is square, not round.

Huawei may release a new foldable smartphone around October 2020, when the Mate 40 series is also expected to be released. It is unclear whether the new folding mobile phone will adopt the patented design.
