Wow, there’s been a lot going on in the last few days. Google has delivered a large number of updates for its Pixel phones, including a new version of Android. An overview. First of all, it has to be mentioned again that it is quite normal why some have received Android 12 again and not Android 13 yet. That caused a lot of confusion. However, Google said that some owners of the Pixel 6 models, in particular, did not actually have the latest Android 12 firmware installed.
Android 13 rolls out from Pixel 4
In the statement, Google explained that these devices will first be updated to the latest Android 12 firmware before the Android 13 update rolls out. This basically started at the beginning of the week and landed on all Google phones from Pixel 4. Android 13 brings numerous innovations with it, but it is not as big an update as Android 12.
Now an explanation is needed. Android 13 is not alone. It also comes with a security patch scheduled for August 2022. But more interestingly, it also comes with a huge bug fix update. For this alone, Google lists around 150 improvements and bug fixes for all Pixel phones from Generation 4.
Google System Updates: August rollout has also started
What’s new in Android 13, plus these improvements, we should have cracked the 200 mark long ago. But that is not enough. A few days later, Google launched the so-called Google System Updates. Google is improving this in the Play Store, various system components, etc. In the first August issue, more than 10 points are listed there again.
Update for the rest of the year: What’s next?
In addition to the usual security patches every month, Google will soon be delivering a little more. We are expecting at least one Pixel Feature Drop based on Android 13 QPR1 in December and a beta test for it will also start in advance. August was hot, but there is definitely more to come.
