Apple’s Chinese retail store has now reopened, but many of its supply chain businesses are still changing. Bloomberg quoted sources as saying that the 5G iPhone 12 will still be available this fall.
It is reported that mass production of the iPhone 12 is expected to begin in May. Delays in device production have also caused the Magic Keyboard, which was released this week with the new iPad Pro and MacBook Air, to ship until May.
Apple’s wireless chips in the United States mainly rely on Broadcom. But Broadcom CEO Hock Tan has said that the new coronavirus “will have an impact on our semiconductor business, especially in the second half of the fiscal year.”
Supply chain sources said that during the Chinese factory shutdown in February, Apple could only produce a limited number of new iPhone test versions.
Apple usually finalizes most of the design features of the new iPhone from November to December the year before the new product launch and starts mass production of new cases around April, and then begins the post-production stage around May, which is the final assembly, testing, and packaging.
