Riot Games will delete inactive accounts from League of Legends international servers

Riot Games, the developer of League of Legends, announced on the official website on August 15 that some very inactive game accounts will be deleted. Riot Games stated that in order to improve the security of player data, player data will be retained only when necessary, and accounts that have not been active for a period of time and do not have much data, such as never purchased anything, only played a few games, Unlocked a few contents, etc.

What is an inactive account?

If a player account has not had any log-in activity in any game, application, or web property for more than three years, the account will be considered invalid. Therefore, as long as the player has logged in to the game within three years, or even logged in on the official website of Riot Games, the account will not be deleted.

Which inactive accounts are being deleted?

Riot Games has a very conservative policy in determining which inactive accounts will be terminated, and accounts must meet all of the following conditions to be considered eligible for deletion due to inactivity:

  • The account is inactive jump state
  • The account has not purchased any in-game currency during its lifetime
  • The account has not received any game currency during its lifetime
  • Account played less than 20 hours
  • Account does not own any rare limited edition game rights

If a player’s account is marked for deletion due to inactivity, Riot Games will notify the player via email. The official will start to delete the account in the next few months. If you have received the email and do not want to be deleted, you can choose not to delete the account according to the official guidelines.
