Earlier this year, Samsung demonstrated its Odyssey series of e-sports displays at CES. Although the Odyssey G7 and Odyssey G9 monitors have entered a predetermined state in the United States, only the G7 is available in South Korea. Now, the company has finally launched the Odyssey G9 globally.
The Samsung Odyssey G9 is priced at 1.9 million won (approximately 11,177 won) and is compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync with a curvature of 1000R. The new e-sports display is also the world’s first display that supports HDR10+, thanks to its QLED panel with DisplayHDR 1000 certification.
This high-end gaming monitor won the CES 2020 Innovation Award in the category of computer peripherals and accessories for its unique curved design. Odyssey G9 uses a 49-inch curved QLED panel with a resolution of 5120×1440 and an aspect ratio of 32:9.
In addition, it has a high refresh rate of 240Hz, a response time of 1ms, and a peak brightness of 1000 nits. The monitor also covers 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and is compatible with NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro. The display can also be rotated and tilted according to user requirements.
In terms of ports, Odyssey G9 has two DisplayPort 1.4 ports, an HDMI 2.0 port, three USB 3.0 ports, and a headphone jack. In addition, the display also provides functions such as black equalizer and virtual aiming point.
It is also the industry’s first display with the best rating of the 1000R curved display and eye comfort certification issued by the Rhine certification. Odyssey G9 is mainly white, but with Infinity Core light-emitting area on the back. This area supports 52 colors and 5 different lighting effects.
