Google had decided to suspend Chrome version updates to ensure that web developers would not encounter problems. Microsoft has now decided to follow in the footsteps of Google, and today Microsoft also announced the suspension of the Chromium Edge browser update.
In a tweet, Microsoft Edge Dev stated that “the stable channel update to Edge 81 will be suspended in line with the Chromium project.”
Microsoft Edge Dev said,
“Given the current situation, the Edge team will suspend the update of the stable channel to Edge 81 under the Chromium project. We are committed to continuing the security and stability update of Edge 80. We will share more information next week.
While Microsoft continues to work on Edge development, the company has decided to suspend updates to ensure they don’t burden Web developers who are under tremendous pressure due to the ongoing crisis. Microsoft said it will release fixes and security updates for Edge v80, both current stable versions of Chrome and Edge.
